Happy New Year 2026

Photographer Rashawn Renee

I’ve been a photographer for most of my life. I picked up my first camera at seven years old. Photography is still how I see, understand, and honor the world around me. My work has always been about people—human connection, legacy, and light. What I do is both technical and deeply spiritual, rooted in tradition, shaped by experience, and guided by purpose.

I began in the era of film, working with 35mm, medium format, and large format cameras, shooting slide film and black-and-white. I also spent years working for Fujifilm and Kodak, developing and repairing ,C-41, E-6, and black-and-white film and maintaining hands on professional processing equipment. That foundation taught me patience, precision, and respect for the craft—lessons that still guide how I work today. I now shoot with digital slr and digital mirrorless.

Over the years, my photography has reached far beyond the camera. My images have appeared on billboards, bench advertisements, book covers, and on the shelves of professional hair care products. My work in hair photography allowed me to collaborate with beauty brands and salon professionals, blending clean editorial style with real, authentic expression.

Today, I focus on portraiture, children, headshots, newborn photography, and intimate special events. I’m also a newborn hospital photographer, providing newborn portraits for families during one of life’s most sacred beginnings. I offer in-home and outdoor sessions, creating images that feel natural, comfortable, and timeless. While I started in the studio, I’ve found that real connection happens where people feel most like themselves.

I am a mother and a grandmother, and my love for people—especially children—lives at the heart of my work. I approach every session with patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of family and generational legacy.

More recently, I’ve begun exploring AI as a creative tool—not as a replacement, but as a sketchbook. It helps me imagine and outline ideas that I then bring fully to life through film and digital photography. I believe innovation should honor the craft, not replace it.

My work isn’t about trends. It’s about testimony. Every image I create is made with intention, reverence, and respect for the story being told.

Welcome to my work—where legacy is captured and light is honored.
